I'm seriously considering just spending my turking money and declaring this a lost cause. In the last few days, I've made all of $5. Too few hits, and the ones that are there are too "slippery."

Most likely going to pick up a video game :\

It's been a few days since I posted here. HITs are coming VERY slowly; I can't seem to get more than 20 every hour without them drying up. I'm still going to be turking, but hopefully soon the ACRIS hits can come out... Or amazon can post their 200000+ music hits.

Here's an idea, Amazon--why don't you do the reverse? You have the artist names confirmed, now why not the album titles?

Well, it's looking like they've at least tried to curb the botters a little bit; HITs are returning slowly and now there's a verification thing. Was able to grab hits without them slipping away. Gonna turk some more (hopefully) after dinner, but right now I gotta go and finish this monster essay I have due before 4 :)

Well, music HITs are gone completely now, which means they're most likely working on fixing the problems from friday and saturday. Apparantly some amazon rep said that it was a bug, although I don't know why a bug like this would appear now for any reason other than botters. So no turking for me until this all gets sorted out.

Those fucking botters are still taking all the hits. At least the site isn't ass-slow anymore. This pisses me off, though, since with TurkOP I cycle through about 10 HITs in two seconds trying to accept one--you'd think I'd be able to get one accepted.

Jesus christ, amazon, do something. They're taking the hits faster than you can give them out.

Friday, December 09, 2005

Did a total of 8 hits today. I hate botters and they all deserve to die.

100% Acceptance rate, though.

Also, WTF is this Pheremonetrail.com thing? I think it's spam :S

Arg

Some stupid fucking miscreants are botting on mturk and are basically DoSing the site and eating all the hits before anyone can accept them. here's a topic about it. I hope all these fucking script kiddy botters rot in hell.

Also, Amazon will ban these people, but they're ruining it for everyone else.

Whoa

Music hits are gone. Sucks.

Hopefully they add some soon :S

[edit] Looks like they're slowly coming back. But the website is too slow to use. Either traffic exploded in the last 24 hours or someone's doing some MAJOR botting... It's almost like it's being DoSed.

Wednesdays hits FINALLY all processed

Well, all my hits from wednedsay--the worst turking day for me on record--have been processed. Final tally:

Approved: 559
Rejected: 303
Total Earings: 11.18

Thursdays' have just started, albeit slowly, hopefully they're done soon.

Also, mturk.com is slow today :(

Thursday, December 08, 2005

Well, I think I'm going to call it a night. Mturk is going slow, my laptop keeps bsoding, and I've had a crazy crazy day involving a catastrophic breaker failure--I have no power in my computer room.

Anyway hits have been accepted VERY slow but I'm doing REALLY well... Around 97% today, which is better than the 65% I had last night.

Music hits are disappearing REALLY fast tonight, too... I don't know if it's because it's peak hours or someone's doing some MAJOR botting but the hits are disappearing very very fast...

Anyway, stats for tonight:

Submitted: 611
Approved: 37
Rejected: 1 (Probably the podcast hit I did earlier...)
Pending: 573

Total Still Pending: 712 (!)

No change in GC earnings :\
I really don't mean to post so much on this, but right now I'm not really doing anything aside from turking and WoW. That's what being off school does for you.

I'm considering stepping up my efforts slightly, especially after reading the latest post on the amazon web services blog. Basically they say that if you can prove you're a legitimate user you can get your account unblocked if it happens. This doesn't mean I'm going to do like 40 tabs with ASIN lookup blindly clicking but I'm going to not worry so much about keeping my turking down to a minimum.

ASIN lookup

Yuck. I just experimented with a hacked turkop that looks at the amazon product page for answers. It's so damned easy that I feel bad using it. If there was ever a fast way to get banned, this would be it--I was able to EASILY do 50 hits in a minute.

Back to plain ol' turkop with CDDB lookup. At least that way I actually have to work. Sorry if anyone thinks I'm a pussy, but seriously, this makes it FAR too easy. Plus, Amazon is paying us to make sure that their information is correct, and we're just giving them their information back. That's not what they've asked us to do.
Gonna take a break for awhile, Amazon isn't approving/rejecting any music HITs atm. I've got about 300 pending. I feel pretty crappy today for some reason so I think I'm going to veg out for awhile.

The good news is I now have a little bit more in my GC account!

Total in GCs: 41.81
Total Needed For iBook: 958.18
_NOW_ I'm 4.1% there.
Hmm. I just loaded up calculator and figured out that in order for me to make the $1000 for the laptop, I need to have at least 50,000 approved music HITs (far less if I was doing blockviews, but they're nowhere to be found. Maybe A9 is working on getting more pictures and in a few weeks we'll have some more.) I've got a long way to go.
Hmm. It seems that none of my pending HITs have been approved since last night. Oh well, I'm sure they'll be accepted/rejected eventually.

Going to go turk for a few hours with my dad's laptop, god I love wireless internet :)
